my approach to photography

In my 12+ years of full time shooting, I have learned lots of things...

Documenting your life is important.
Details are important.
Flattering poses are important.
The less than perfect shots are important.
Good light is important.
Helping you get your photos printed is also important.

I have also seen lots of styles come and go so I am passionate about keeping your photos modern yet timeless. Let's face it, classic is never regrettable (as a child of the 80's, I can say that with passion).

I am a hands on fixer, am patient, detail oriented, and try to make sessions fun and organized and as magical as they should be! I love people and I want to keep all of my clients as friends too so my goal is to make our time together a great experience. 

Portrait and wedding photography going hand in hand for me. Photographing individuals and families has given me lots of experience posing and prompting, capturing genuine emotion and connection, and crowd control ;). My experience photographing weddings has given me the value of story telling, attention to detail and organization and the importance of capturing how the day felt not just looked. I love people and life and all of it's journeys and like I said, life is good.  Let's capture it.

You'll figure out quick that I am much more comfortable being behind the camera, than in front of it!   

Creativity runs in my blood.  As a daughter of a fine art painter, I inherited a natural sense of design, space, color and light.  More importantly...as a woman, a mom, wife, a daughter, a friend and an all around regular gal, I am passionate about people, all of life's journeys, this beautiful world we get to live in, and the good around us.  I love capturing what I see and feel and connecting with each of the clients I am blessed to serve. 

 In my spare time (what is that?!)...I am obsessed with my family and our two dogs, four chickens (yeah, what were we thinking?!), cooking or finding good food, travel and dreaming of the next adventure, home decor and organization, trips to Target, curbing my Anthropologie obsession, gardening and plants (lots of plants!). I am not a super moderate person by nature and I love to laugh a lot (and probably too loudly) and make friends with everyone I meet.  I am a right and left brained person (rare), but I can't wink or whistle (what the heck?!). I like to keep things real. I'm also a proud Arizona native and even though I travel a lot and fall in love with so many places, I will always call the desert home.
